Fall/Winter LILRR Newsletter article from adopter:

Bella

We now have Bella about three months.  It only seems like yesterday when you brought her over and she immediately entered our hearts.

Bella is still shy.  Every time I hold her and pet her and know how very sweet she is, it is so hard for me to comprehend how she started off life.  I can't imagine and don't want to imagine her in a swamp in a cage or tied to a doghouse.  And yet in reality that's how she spent her first 6-7 months.  Thank goodness she was rescued out of there.  Though her past still affects her, she is making progress.  She is so good when we go to work and likes to sleep by our bed at night.

We have found out that our Bella is a true water dog.  We took her on the boat when we go clamming.  She hops right on the boat.  She loses all her inhibitions when out on the clamming beds.  She runs tail up and wagging in an out of puddles and little rivers and always returns to my side, sometimes knocking into me with delight.  She also loves to swim and secure in her life vest with leash attached, she swims back to the boat with us.  I'm attaching several pictures on our last excursion (we get carried away taking pix!)...this past beautiful weekend.  Ron said we should get a pool so she always has water around her!        - M.
