" Bo C. "

"Hi!  It's been a year since my picture was first put in Heart's Home, and I wanted to let everyone know how I've been doing.  I seem to get cuter as time goes on, according to my Mom!  I have such a wonderful life and couldn't be happier.  My parents spoil me constantly, with lots of toys and carrots to munch on.  And I've become good friends with two other Labs from LILRR, "Butter" and "Sabrina".  We visit each other a lot and have fun playing together.  I am so glad Aunt Sandee let me come and live with my Mom and Dad.   They love me so much, and I am thriving on all the attention they give me!"

Bo's Gardening tips

To all my 4 legged companions, some tips to enhance your gardening experience this summer!

  1. First, and important, act dumb. Never let your people know that you actually LIKE anything they are growing. Walk past them with a totally aloof look on your face, feigning an interest in a squirrel in the next yard.
  2. When they are working in another section of the garden and not looking at you, VERY carefully tiptoe over to a young, tender plant and bite all the leaves off. You have to work quickly and quietly.
  3. Step 2 can be repeated as often as you feel you can get away with this without being caught!
  4. When your people notice missing leaves and uprooted plants lying on the ground, go over to them and give them your best smile, nodding in agreement when they blame some other helpless creature for doing this.
  5. Never stay in one area too long or the eaten plants will be noticed quickly and your fun will be over, possibly resulting in the areas being permanently fenced in (this happened in my case before I became experienced).
  6. When you are caught (and you ultimately WILL be!), give your people your best sad-eyed expression, possibly even sucking in your stomach to show them that you are indeed starving to death. They usually will fall for this and not get too mad (but the fence will still go up).
  7. If you really show your people that you are sorry, they may just plant some tasty morsels outside the garden for you to munch on! I got lucky! Happy munching!

Love, Bo

!!! Happy 8th Anniversary !!!

Dear LILRR,

I can hardly believe that I have been here with Mom and Dad 8 years! It seems I just stepped out of your car that November day, not knowing that when I walked into this door to my forever home, I would have so much love waiting for me! I am much older, of course, and my muzzle could certainly use a shot of Miss Clairol, but my heart is still that of a young pup. I can't run like I used to, and arthritis makes getting up a little tougher some days, but Mom gives me lots of good supplements to help with that. I thought that when I got old, maybe Mom and Dad would not love me as much, but when I snuggle between them I see the love still in their eyes when they look at me, just like when I was young. As Mom said to me one day, it's not what we look like outside, but what we are inside, and she said I would always be beautify because of who I am. Heavy stuff, but I guess what she is trying to say is I will always be her special baby. I have had so many years of happiness and received so much love it is more than a dog could ask for. Mom says I give her so much joy and she loves just watching me even when I am sleeping. And Dad; well, he totally adores me!

Mom took some pictures of me in my new scarf that you sent. I hope you like them!

Love and hugs,

Bo
