FAQs
Are rescued Labs healthy?
The majority number of Labradors entering Rescue have no health problems
whatsoever! Those that do, however, receive immediate vet care and
appropriate medications or surgeries to restore their health and quality of
life.
(following excerpt from "Adoption
Information"):
- Rescued Labs receive a thorough vet exam upon entry and to best determine
appropriate placement, the rescued Labrador is assessed for behavior and
training over a six to eight week period before being considered for adoption.
Labs leave LILRR spayed/neutered, up to date on inoculations, tested for
heartworm, microchip
ID'd and freshly groomed. Vet records, rabies tag, state license and
tag, balance of heartworm preventatives, and any current medication and copies
of any paperwork received from the previous owner (if the dog is an over
give-up) are transferred with the Lab upon adoption.
