How long does it take to adopt?

Many adoptions have occurred within 24 hrs. after reviewing an application, but the average placement is within two weeks considering most introductions occur one day and delivery is made on another day, giving all parties time to consider and potential adopters time to (shop!) be responsibly prepared for the new family member.

Delays are often created due to incomplete applications, applications being filled out by 2nd parties or children, or people simply did not take time to review the Adoption Information before submitting their application.

(excerpt from "Adoption Information"):

• Once your application has been received and reviewed, if a potentially suitable Lab is  immediately available an appointment is made for you to meet the Lab.  Introductions are  usually scheduled for weekend afternoons and always confirmed in advance.  Be prepared to introduce the entire household your adopted Lab will be living with.  Should you and the rescued Lab be a potential match, an appointment is set for an Adoption Rep, accompanied by the selected Lab, to meet at your residence for the home interview and adoption determination.
