" Maja "

DOB 02-12-99

A special Lab with special needs.

This is a biography explained with love...

Contacted by a kill shelter one year ago, LILRR was told a pup name of Maja, very

affectionate but too mouthy, was being put to sleep because no one would adopt her

(owners put her into the kill shelter said they were moving and pup couldn't go).

LILRR thought "okay - excessive mouthiness can be natural for pups her age!"

"Mouthy" was an understatement!  This was not usual noisy mouthy, touchy mouthy.  Assessed by several vets and trainers, Maja is believed to have been removed from her mom way too soon which left her with a severe "Linus complex" (as in Peanuts comic strip).  Maja was needy of being close to people and desperate to hold any item for security.  Her preferred security blanket was an item of your wardrobe - your shirt tail or pant leg!  She would grab the clothing and hold on for dear life - not tugging, just holding tightly!  We have worked patiently with Maja to get her to a point of not demanding to grasp persons clothing, and accept substitute toys, balls, bones, and booda ropes (now a favorite).  This sweet natured Lab likes everyone and only wants to please.  She needs someone capable of patient reassurance and continued training.   LILRR will only discuss her placement with a person very dog savvy in a home with no small children - Maja is VERY gentle and would not mean to injure but if she tugs the shirt of a small child it could result in toppling the child over.

Maja is adopted...

Winter 2002:  Hi, all ... I am really happy with my new, forever, family!!!
