"Pipsqueak"
DOB June, 1999
"Pipsqueak" was born with megaesophagus, a life threatening condition affecting the trachea and ability to swallow. At six months he had surgery for 'a persistent right aortic arch' in attempt to correct the restriction. When surgery failed, Pip was no longer wanted by his owner and the breeder would not take him back to find another home. Abandoned at the vet clinic for 4 months, Pip was going to be put to sleep unless rescued by LILRR. Placed on a suitable nutrition program and agreeable feeding style, Pip is otherwise a normal playful and affectionate Lab puppy. Precaution is taken to be sure he does not eat forbidden objects (he is still a normal very inquisitive puppy wanting to put everything in his mouth). Pip requires a very easy to prepare semi-liquid diet (like a milkshake) and three feedings each day. This adorable Lab is neutered, house broken, intelligent, great with other dogs, affectionate with people and will be a wonderful addition to the right family.

September 2000
"Pipsqueak" was a pleasure (and had fun) co-hosting
at the two day educational event in Bellmore.
His need for special diet and feeding regimen does
not circumvent the natural Lab instinct to be a loveable clown!!!

November 9-12 2000 - Long Island Pet Expo
"Pip" and other Lab pals were magnificent co-hosts for this four day
public educational event! Lots of fun, schmoozing, plenty of belly rubs,
good eats and talking Labrador Retriever with like minded folk.
After the long full days, nights were spent snoring soundly.
