Port's Story

|
A rather interesting story ... a year ago, this Lab was adopted from a kill shelter after being picked up stray and not claimed by owner. the people that saved him from the pound decides to relocate to a home that does not permit dogs and could not find him a home and learned about LILRR . . . . . . . . . after neuter surgery, our vet prepared to microchip the Lab and scanned for an existing chip and as the scanner was removed, it passed over Port's shoulder and beeped --- this Lab had already been micro chipped by Avid but the chip had migrated from back of neck to lower shoulder - no wonder the kill shelter and LILRR did not detect a chip when scanning! but this is wonderful news ... we can trace his owners!!!!). we contacted the original owners that say they told the children their puppy had been stolen a year ago (their neighbors said they saw the pup return to owner's front yard on several occasions but the owners never saw him, and apparently did not look very hard to find their pup). when we spoke, they no longer want their Lab because 'the children are allergic'. so... LILRR micro chipped him with AKC Home Again which has rare tendency to migrate and closed the door on the past. the handsome sweetheart needs obedience training, is housebroken, healthy, well mannered in home, wants to please and great with people and other dogs. not much interest in retrieving balls and toys, Port is slightly hand shy but eagerly relishes human attention and frolicking with other Labs. |
