"Sydney"

DOB:  December 23, 2001

We were told (by former owner & vet) this chocolate female suffered a stroke at 7 months of age that left her blind in the left eye and deaf in the left ear.  Former vet and ophthalmologist reports the sudden loss of hearing and sight was likely caused by trauma or stroke and recommended a brain MRI and spinal tap (neither was performed).  Suddenly without balanced sensory, she turns to the right to face what she can immediately see and hear.  The constant circling and twisting to face/hear things on her right  made leash walks and care too difficult for her former parent.  LILRR will schedule a brain MRI for Sydney and, in the interim, has begun rehab with simple basic agility ... low hurdles, short climbs and simple jumps is helping Sydney force control of her body.

- with pals -

Otherwise healthy and loveable, we believe sweet Sydney's future looks super from both sides!!!!

--- Sydney Update ---

An MRI shows Sydney suffers a mass cell tumor in the brain region of the Thalmus.

Another MRI is recommended for January 2004 to determine rate of growth.

Knowing no one else will take on such heartache and financial burden,

Sydney is being adopted by our Foster Volunteer who will responsibly and lovingly

walk her thru the next 15 weeks or 15 years.

doG bless you both!
